We Have Moved

Well, we moved almost two months ago, but phew... so much to do before and after the move. Which is why I haven't posted for quite a while.
We now live in Spanish Fork again.  Here are some photos of the place. We are still working on patching nail holes in walls and touch up painting, and lots of other little fixes. I just got screens in the windows today. Which makes me sooo happy.  Out of the 8 windows in the place, only 3 had screens.  Which meant my fly swatter has been working overtime.  I always have taken them for granted, until I was missing so many.

Spring Fling Crazy Quilt - Finished

As I worked on this project I practiced silk ribbon embroidery. It is a newly discovered art that I have decided I am quite fond of.  The Purple delphiniums on the far right corner, and the blue everlasting flowers on the bottom right block came from Ann Cox's book A-Z of Silk Ribbon Flowers.  I highly recommend this book.  It is quite easy to understand and has 32 different flower varieties of different skill levels. I probably will be doing more Silk Ribbon Embroidery and less crazy quilting in the future. The crazy quilt is fastened onto a piece of foam core poster board.
This was created as part of a contest from crazyquiltingsupplies.com . It was the spring fling crazy quilt challenge.

Kyle gets his AAS

On May 2nd 2014 Kyle accepted his degree in Applied Associates of Science in Computer Science! In a year or two we will have another post of him with his bachelors.  We are so proud of him and all his hard work and study.

Allyson Turns 4

Back in March Allyson had her 4th birthday.  She told me she wanted purple balloons as her present. She helped me go pick them out.  We lost one on the way home, which made her sad.
We don't do birthday cake in our house typically.  It really isn't any of our favorite.  Allyson only wants sprinkles typically.  So we did brownies and ice cream with sprinkles on the top.
We had the Miller family, Amber & Jeremy, and Kyle's father and step mom.  The Miller's came over for dinner before the party. We had Allyson's favorites; chicken strips and tater tots.
It is funny how I have very few photos of the actual presents.  The white bag came from Amber and Jeremey.  It contained "Spotty", a orange stuffed tabby, which Allyson loves.
The purple bag came from the Millers.  It had easter eggs filled with M&M's (Allyson's favorite candy), side walk chalk, and a few other things.

Spring Fling Crazy Quilt Block 1

Working on a 4 block crazy quilt for the Spring Fling Crazy Quilt at Crazy Quilting Supplies.com.
This is block 1. I still have some beading to do, and a few other things to add, like sew on the mushrooms.
Here is a close up of the iris and branches. I accidentally embroidered all the pink iris flowers upside down, so I had to change my plan and added the tree branches to fill space.  I had planned on there being much more french knot dirt.

Crazy Quilting

This past summer I took an online crazy quilting class.  I mostly was interested in how to piece the fabric.  It didn't occur to me that the piecing is only a small part of it.  It is really about embroidery and embellishing the quilt. So for the last 7 months I have been working on my first crazy quilt.  The class I took is called Crazy Quilting taught by Allie Aller (a well known crazy quilter, blogger and author).  I highly recommend it.
This is what my first 4 blocks started as, before I added the embroidery.  I added another 2 blocks to make it larger.  I probably should have just done the 4 blocks for my first project.
I finally finished tying and stitching the binding closed last week.  I already have plans on doing other ones and different techniques I want to try. I did a little silk ribbon embroidery on this, but I want to learn more.  It can be so beautiful.

January - Naomi is 2

Naomi Turns 2

Our cute little baby has grown up to be a toddler. She is changing and showing personality more of her personality. She Loves her big sister. The two girls play together better each month.  There is far less crying coming from Naomi since is able to play with Allyson instead of getting trampled or other things.  It is so fun to hear two little girls giggling as they run around in circles, take baths, and  jump on the couch.

She is still a sweet little girl.  She loves to see her substitute "grandma" in our LDS Branch.  She is always there to give her a hug, since her grandmas are far away and this woman's grand kids are far away too.

Allyson is learning how to use a camera, when I am not looking.

Lots more play doh time this month.
She just wanted to do what mommy does.

December

I got far behind due to the holidays.  So here is a rewind to December.
There was snow. Naomi had her first winter where she could walk in the snow.
The girls met Santa.
Christmas Eve dinner.  Allyson did not eat even a third of that.
Christmas morning Naomi was happy to find some of her favorite things. Something to put on her head, a baby, and a shopping cart for her baby.  Thank you to the loved ones that gave her those things.  She loves them.
Allyson has been into play doh lately.  They spend a lot of time doing the above.  Since they are not that good, I get to help them a lot.          /
